FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn (3-26, 3-15) baseball team traveled to Fort Wayne, Ind. for a WHAC doubleheader against the Indiana Tech Warriors on Saturday (Apr. 15). Matthew Balash blasted three home runs in the two games, but the Wolverines were swept by the Warriors losing 15-4 and 15-11.

Game One

The Wolverines looked to take the reigns of the game early on as Balash torched a solo shot to right field to give the Wolverines a 1-0 lead in the top of the second. However, Indiana Tech scored twice in the bottom of the second to take a 2-0 lead. However, the Wolverines would respond with a SAC Fly off the bat of Matthew Williams to tie the game at two.

Indiana Tech would respond with nine unanswered runs in the third and fourth inning to take an insurmountable lead. However, the Wolverines trimmed the lead in the fifth when Evan Morin and Williams hit back-to-back doubles to make it 11-4 Warriors.

Tech would add four more runs to take a 15-4 victory in game one.

Game Two

The backend of Saturday's doubleheader featured an offensive shootout as 26 runs were scored in the contest. The Wolverines took a 6-3 lead after Balash hit his second tank of the day in the top half of the second inning. The Warriors would not be denied as they would score 12 unanswered runs thanks to an impressive 10 RBI game from Christian Mojica.

UM-Dearborn tried to make a late comeback after Williams delivered a two-RBI single to left field to score Max McLennan and Joseph Fraga

Balash would smash his third and final home run in the eighth inning, this time a three-run home run to cap off a five-RBI game. Ultimately, the Warriors took the contest 15-11.

Nathaniel Wandrie came in relief of starter Jack Cronyn and threw 5.1 innings while only surrendering three hits and striking out five Warriors.
