Wolverines Secure First Victory of the Season

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn (1-1) women's basketball team secured a road victory against Penn State-Schuylkill (0-2) on Sunday (Nov. 5) at CCAC-Allegheny. The Wolverines took the contest 60-44.

 

Sydney Dixon had a phenomenal day from the floor, shooting 6-9 and 1-2 from behind the arc. Dixon led the Wolverines in scoring with 14 points. Emily Grulke had her best game as a Wolverine as she finished a rebound shy of a double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds. Grulke had five offensive rebounds, helping the Wolverines to nine second-chance points. 

 

UM-Dearborn dominated Schuylkill in the paint, outscoring the Nittany Lions 28-8. The tale of the game was the stifling Wolverine defense. The Wolverines forced 28 turnovers and scored 23 points off of them. The Wolverines held Schuylkill to just 22.9% shooting from the field and allowed three made triples all afternoon. 

 

UM-Dearborn will play Point Park tomorrow at 11 a.m.
