DEARBORN, Mich. -- For the first time in program history the No. 10 University of Michigan-Dearborn women's ice hockey team defeated the Adrian College ACHA D1 Bulldogs. The Bulldogs, who sit at No. 3 in the country in the latest women's d1 rankings, lost to the Wolverines by a 2-1 decision. The Wolverines were helped thanks to freshman Kenna Borso's career-high 39 saves.

The Bulldogs dominated the first period and outshot the Wolverines 16-3. However, despite the onslaught of shots, Borso remained steady and did not let anything past her in the opening 20 minutes. In the second period, at the 6:18 mark, the Bulldogs struck first after coincidental penalties left both teams playing four-on-four. The Bulldogs were able to slip one past Borso to give them a 1-0 lead.

Less than two minutes later, the Wolverines answered after a scrum in the front of the net, Samantha Sensoli tapped in a loose puck to equalize the score. Madison Schroeder provided an assist on the goal.

In the final stanza, the Wolverines went on the powerplay at the 10:47 mark after the Bulldogs were given a minor for cross-checking. 59 seconds later, Schroeder linked up with Amy Palaian and Sensoli, giving the Wolverines the powerplay goal and a crucial lead. In the final 10 minutes of the contest, the Wolverines minimized the Bulldog's scoring chances, allowing Borso to keep all of her chances in front of her.

The Bulldogs went the final 98 seconds of the contest with an empty net, but the Wolverines blocked crucial shots to keep them from getting to Borso and preserve the 2-1 victory.
