Barakat Records 500 Career Rebounds, Wolverines Lose 69-67

DEARBORN, Mich. -- The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's basketball team faced off against the University of Northwestern Ohio Racers in a closely contested match. Unfortunately, UM-Dearborn lost a hard-fought game, 69-67, on Wednesday (Feb. 21) at the Fieldhouse. 

Alysia Lawson was the standout performer for the University of Northwestern Ohio, scoring an impressive 30 points. She was aided by Olivia Thompson, who scored 10 points, and Lyric Scott, who contributed 10 points off the bench.

UM-Dearborn's Morgan Miller and Maya Barakat were their team's high scorers, scoring 18 points. They were joined by Bailey Stimac, who had 12 points, and India Grissom, who scored 12 points.

UM-Dearborn's shooting percentage was 38.5%, while Northwestern Ohio shot 39.3%. Both teams struggled from beyond the arc, with UM-Dearborn shooting 31.8% and Northwestern Ohio shooting 26.1%. However, Northwestern Ohio made up for it with their free throw shooting, making 75% of their free throws compared to UM-Dearborn's 62.5%.

Despite the loss, UM-Dearborn put up a strong performance, with Maya Barakat recording an impressive 17 rebounds. Her 10th rebound of the game saw her achieve 500 career rebounds in just her 57th game. India Grissom also did well, recording eight assists. However, the team struggled with turnovers, committing nine in total.
