Campbell Keeps Wolverines Close in Loss Against Indiana Tech

DEARBORN, Mich. -- Troy Campbell helped propel the University of Michigan-Dearborn (2-11, 0-7) men's basketball team to a strong effort against the Indiana Tech Warriors (8-5, 6-1) on Wednesday (Jan. 3). The Wolverines had a played one game in the last 14 days, but that did not deter them from putting together one of their best shooting performances of the season. The Wolverines connected on 11 triples but ultimately came up short, losing 94-81. 

The Warriors were led by Javel Lewis, who had an outstanding game with 24 points, nine rebounds, and two assists. Max Perez also had a strong performance, scoring 16 points and grabbing three rebounds. Lucas Lyyski, Steve Helm, and Dallas Roberts all contributed with 15, eight, and 11 points respectively.

On the other side, the Wolverines were led by Troy Campbell with 19 points, three rebounds, and five assists. Abdulrahman Helwa and Thomas Dillard IV had solid games with 17 and 16 points, respectively. Andrew Leamy and Collin Miller also contributed 15 and 12 points, respectively.

The game started off strong for the Warriors, who took an early lead in the first quarter and maintained it throughout. The Wolverines tried to make a comeback in the second quarter, but the Warriors held on and continued to lead by double digits throughout the second half.

The Warriors had a strong shooting performance, finishing the game with a field goal percentage of 47.2% and a three-point percentage of 30.8%. They also had a strong showing at the free-throw line, making 18 out of 23 attempts. The Wolverines, on the other hand, had a field goal percentage of 48.4% and a three-point percentage of 37.9% but struggled to get to the free-throw line, only registering 10 attempts, compared to 23 for the Warriors. 

The Wolverines are back in action on Saturday (Jan. 6) as they take on Aquinas at the Fieldhouse. Tip-off is set for 1 pm.
