DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn (4-3) men's lacrosse team was seemingly finished early in the first quarter on Wednesday (Mar. 22) against SCAD Savannah (2-6). The Yellow Jackets took an early 4-0 lead at Star International Academy and looked to be in cruise control. However, the Wolverines revitalized their attack, fought back with six unanswered goals, and again clawed back to score the game-tying goal with one second left on the clock. SCAD Savannah would ultimately take the game 10-9 in overtime to end the Wolverine winning streak.

It took the Wolverines almost 15 minutes to get their name onto the score sheet after Ryan Savage linked up with Mason Loudermilk on the man advantage to bring the deficit to 4-1. Then, right before the first-period horn sound, Brodie Mahmud ripped home a Braxton Kern pass to trim the deficit to two goals.

Only one goal was scored in the second period, and it was off the stick of Loudermilk, who brought Dearborn within one at the 8:34 mark of the second period. Joseph Atherall provided an assist on the goal.

The streak of unanswered goals continued coming out of the half as Joseph Atherall, Kern, and Drake Biggie scored goals in the first six minutes of the third period.  With a 6-4 lead and what felt like all of the control in the game, the Yellow Jackets flipped the momentum back in their favor. SCAD Savannah would respond with three unanswered goals to regain a 7-6 lead with 1:34 to play in the third. However, Loudermilk would again tickle the twine with 19 seconds left to send it to the fourth quarter in a tie game and with everything to play for.

Mahmud would help the Wolverines answer first with an unassisted goal, but the Yellow Jackets would score two goals within 15 seconds of each other to take a 9-8 lead with 4:57 to play. In a last-ditch attempt to tie up the game, the Wolverines sent a flurry of attackers at the net, and just before the final horn went off, Parker Steindl buried an unassisted goal to send the fans into a craze and tie the game at nine.

UM-Dearborn created one chance in the four-minute overtime period as Loudermilk sent a shot on frame, but the Yellow Jacket goalkeeper saved it. SCAD Savannah would score forty seconds later to take the 10-9 victory.
