DEARBORN, Mich. -- Four first-period goals allowed the University of Michigan-Dearborn men's ice hockey team to outlast the Cleary Cougars and earn a series sweep after a 4-3 victory. Josh Weber, Chance Mathews, Matt Cunningham, and Declan Flanagan scored in the victory.

Weber opened the scoring 2:10 into the contest as Ian Kimble fired a shot on the net and deflected it to the stick of Weber, who was waiting in front of the net for the tap-in goal. Max Hartwell provided a secondary assist on the goal. At 9:15, the Wolverines added another goal off Mathews's stick. Danny Fletcher and Noah Szmagaj added assists on the ensuing faceoff. The Cougars won it back to their defensemen, and after a heads-up play from Weber, he poke-checked the puck loose, allowing a two-on-one with the Cougar netminder. Weber slid the puck across the crease to a wide-open Cunningham, who tapped it in for the 3-0 lead. Flanagan closed the scoring after the blueliner scored on a 5-on-4. Flanagan wristed a puck through traffic and a redirect from a Cougar defender left the netminder helpless with a puck in the back of his net.

The second period saw no goals from either side. In the third period, the Cougars made a comeback with three goals scored by Jonny Gardiner, Devon Campbell, and Cam Thomas. However, it was a little too late, and the Wolverines held on to their lead until the end of the game.

The Wolverines played a strong game, with Weber, Mathews, Cunningham, and Flanagan scoring one goal each. Ian Kimble, Max Hartwell, Danny Fletcher, Noah Szmagaj, and Ryan Stanley all recorded one assist each. Tanner Beals, the Wolverines' goalie, made 23 saves in the game.
