Barakat's Effort Falls Short in 64-62 Loss Against LTU

DEARBORN, Mich. -- In a wire-to-wire contest, Maya Barakat paced the University of Michigan-Dearborn women's basketball team with an incredible performance. Barakat poured in 24 points, including 18 in the first-half. Barakat secured the double-double with an impressive 16 rebounds. Despite the performance, the Wolverines lost to the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils 64-62 on Wednesday (Jan. 24).

Maya Barakat was the leading scorer for UM-Dearborn with 24 points in the game. Jordan Banks contributed 17 points, and India Grissom added 12 points. The Wolverines shot 35.7% from the floor and 29.4% from three in the contest. The Wolverines claimed the rebounding battle 44-43.

Kate Jacobs led the Blue Devils with 15 points and 13 rebounds, while Jade Faris contributed 13 points and 10 rebounds to secure double-doubles.

The contest featured 11 lead changes and eight ties. The Wolverines won the turnover battle. However, the Blue Devils converted 16 points off turnovers compared to six from the Wolverines.

UM-Dearborn is back in action on Saturday (Jan. 27) as they take on the Rochester Warriors at the Fieldhouse. Tip-off is set for 1 pm.
