HOWELL, Mich.-- The University of Michigan-Dearborn (1-14, 1-3) baseball team took on the Cleary University Cougars (13-11, 2–4) in a Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference doubleheader. Unfortunately, the Wolverines couldn't find the win column on Friday (Mar. 24) as they were swept in the doubleheader at Lake Trust Stadium losing 5-1 and 8-4.

Game One

The Cougars jumped out early as they scored three first-inning runs. The Cougars would keep that lead throughout all seven innings as they limited the Wolverine offense to just three base hits.

The Wolverines scored their only run in the second inning as Matthew Balash doubled to left field to score Mark Schaaf on the play.

After surrendering three early runs, Nick Saylor held the Cougars scoreless until the seventh. Saylor struck out three and scattered six hits in 6.0 innings of work. Alvaro Hernandez threw 1.0 inning of relief behind Saylor.

Game Two

The Cougars again took an early lead scoring two runs on an RBI SAC fly and triple to right field. Nathan Mack cut the lead in half in the bottom of the second when he blasted a solo home run to left field.

Cleary scored six unanswered runs over the next five innings to take an 8-1 lead. The Wolverines had their best inning of the day in the bottom of the seventh when they forced starter Quinn Foster out after loading the bases with nobody out. UM-Dearborn scored three runs to make it 8-4 Cougars.

UM-Dearborn was unable to scratch anything else across ending in an 8-4 loss.
