The University of Michigan-Dearborn Player of the Week is men’s basketball forward Jason Gigliotti, it was announced Wednesday.
The Wolverines looked to keep pace in the WHAC standings as they traveled out to Southfield, Mich., this past weekend to take on Lawrence Tech. After a close first half, UM-Dearborn tightened up on defense in the second half and outscored the Blue Devils by 14 points which led to an 80-64 win. The victory moved the Wolverines to 11-3 overall and 5-1 in the WHAC.
UM-Dearborn was led by Gigliotti who narrowly missed a double-double, as he registered 19 points and nine rebounds in the contest.
The Hartland, Mich., native is in the midst of his third season with the men’s basketball program and has been a force down low for Coach Taylor Langley and the Wolverines. He is currently averaging 12.7 points per game and 8.2 rebounds per game.
The honor is the first for Gigliotti and the fourth for the men’s basketball team this season.
UM-Dearborn will step out of league play to travel to Ohio Christian University at 6 pm Thursday in Circleville, Ohio.
