Bond Nets Season-High in Loss Against Rochester (MI)

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. – Newcomer Shayla Bond was the lone bright spot for the University of Michigan-Dearborn (1-9, 0-5) women's basketball team on Saturday (Dec. 9) afternoon. Bond nailed four triples for a season-high 12 points in an 81-55 loss against Rochester University (6-5, 3-2) at Garth Pleasant Arena. 

As a team, the Wolverines were held to just 23% shooting as a team. The Wolverines made five threes in the game, four coming from Bond. UM-Dearborn shot 5-28 from deep, converting at a 17.9% clip. The Warriors forced UM-Dearborn into 20 turnovers, while the Wolverines forced 19 turnovers. Bailey Stimac led the Wolverines with three steals. 

After trailing 27-12 after the first quarter, the Wolverines won the second quarter 19-16 to head into the break down 43-31. The Warriors outscored the Wolverines 17-9 in the third to take over the contest and put the Wolverines away for good. 

The Wolverines are back in action against Cornerstone on Saturday (Dec. 16). Tip-off is set for 1 pm.
