Wolverines Wrap Up Season Against Cornerstone

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.-- The University of Michigan-Dearborn (5-37-5-26) baseball team wrapped up their 2023 season on Saturday (Apr.29) against the Cornerstone University Golden Eagles (20-30, 13-19) at De Witt Field. The Golden Eagles took both games of the doubleheader, winning 8-3 and 13-2. 

 

Game One

Evan Morin led the Wolverines with a 2-4 day with two RBIs in the opening game. Matthew Williams provided some power for the Wolverines driving a solo home run to left field in the first inning to give UM-Dearborn a 1-0 lead. 

 

Matthew Silka threw 2.2 innings of scoreless relief for the Wolverines scattering two hits across his outing. Silka punched out four Golden Eagles while not surrendering a free pass. 

 

Game Two

The Wolverines were only able to get a little offense rolling in game two. The Golden Eagle pitching staff held the Wolverines to just four hits in the backend of the doubleheader. Evan Morin continued his strong day, providing two of the four hits for the Wolverines. Morin also tallied the only RBIs for the Wolverines as he stroked a two-RBI single in the fifth inning to help him finish 2-3 and 4-7 on the day. 

 

The Golden Eagles would take the contest 13-2 and was called in the seventh inning due to a mercy rule.
