DEARBORN, Mich. -- The University of Michigan-Dearborn (10-11, 6-6) volleyball team looked to get some redemption against the University of Northwestern Ohio Racers (10-14, 3-9) on Friday (Oct. 13) as they dropped the first matchup 3-1 in Lima back in September. The Wolverines did indeed get their redemption, winning the contest 3-1, with set scores of 25-22, 9-25, 25-15, 26-14.

The Wolverines claimed the first set despite the Racers only registering eight kills and a kill percentage of .071. However, the Wolverines made numerous errors at the service line, allowing the Racers to stay in the opening set. Sydney Eggleton would put the Racers away after a destructive kill down the line to give UM-Dearborn a 1-0 lead. The second set was a forgettable one as the Wolverines recorded a negative kill percentage and doubled up their errors (8) as opposed to kills (4). The Racers steamrolled the Wolverines 25-9 to tie up the contest.

Head coach Eric Stark gathered his girls before the third set and regained their focus, helping the Wolverines power through the Racers to take a 25-15 victory and some confidence heading into a crucial fourth set. The Racers came out scorching after they lost the previous set, taking a 6-3 lead. However, the Wolverines would rattle off seven consecutive points to take a 10-6 lead and force UNOH into a timeout.

The Racers would battle back and take a 12-11 lead. The Wolverines would go on a 7-4 scoring run to give themselves a nice cushion at 18-16. The two teams would exchange points, leading to the Racers regaining a 24-23 lead. Down to set point, Stark would call a timeout and call on his leaders one last time to bring the game home. Kielee Tondryk responded by recording two consecutive kills and taking a 25-24 lead. Regan Rose floated a beautiful ball over the net on the next serve and dropped it right between two diving Racers to win the set and match. 3-1.
