No. 5 Warriors Outmatch Wolverines in 19-4 Loss

DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's lacrosse team (4-7, 0-4) looked to end their four-game losing streak against the Indiana Tech Warriors on Wednesday (Apr. 5).

 

Indiana Tech came out strong, scoring a minute and a half into the game. However, the pressure continued as the Warriors scored another eight goals unanswered, ending the first quarter with a 9-0 lead. 

 

The Warriors carried their momentum into the second quarter, scoring 22 seconds into the second quarter. Indiana Tech was able to hold the 10-0 lead until Ryan Savage found the back of the net unassisted for the Wolverines, bringing the score to 10-1. Indiana Tech answered less than a minute later, followed by three more Warrior goals, bringing the score to 14-1 nearing the end of the first half. With just two seconds left in the half, Ryan Savage was able to collect his second unassisted goal of the night, ending with the Wolverines trailing 14-2 at the end of the first half.

 

It was well into the third quarter that the first goal of the quarter was scored by Indiana Tech with six minutes left. Precisely 30 seconds later, Joseph Atherall scored a Wolverine goal, assisted by Ryan Savage, to make the game 15-3. Despite the Wolverine effort, Indiana Tech was able to find the back of the net two more times late in the third quarter, ending the third off with a 17-3 Warrior lead.

 

The final quarter began with a Warrior goal a minute into the quarter but stayed 18-3 until late in the fourth quarter when Indiana Tech scored their 19th and final goal with two and a half minutes left in the game. The Wolverines finished the game with a goal, bringing their defeat to a score of 19-4 when Quest Bigelow scored, assisted by Parker Steindl.

 

Ryan Savage led the Wolverines in points with three, coming in the form of two goals and one assist in the loss.
