Wolverines Improve Unbeaten Streak to 10 Games

SAULT ST. MARIE, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn (12-3-1, 7-0-1) women's ice hockey team improved their unbeaten streak to 10 games after defeating Lake Superior State 6-0 and ending the second game in a 1-1 tie. Kenna Borso continued her impressive stretch, recording her sixth shutout in seven starts. Borso has not allowed a goal between the pipes in her last 300 minutes. 

The Wolverines poured six goals in an offensive onslaught in the first game. However, four goals came in the final stanza to put the Lakers away for good. Cadence Pero had three points for the Wolverines after scoring a goal and adding two assists. Freshman Finnia O'Neill Di Mascio, Sydney Gillen, and Sophomore Andi Evers each chipped in two points, scoring a goal and dishing out an assist. 

Kenna Borso made 28 saves in net to blank the Lakers to improve her to 6-1 on the season. 

The second game was deadlocked at zero until the third period. Each team was creating excellent scoring chances, but neither team could find the back of the net. Victoria Hahn got the start for the Wolverines and made 27 saves to keep the Wolverines in the contest. Despite Hahn's effort in net, the Lakers were the first on the scoresheet, scoring at the 6:42 mark of the third period. 

The Wolverines would answer back after Cadence Pero buried her eighth goal of the season. Taylor Spence and Samantha Sensoli provided assists on the equalizer. Neither team could muster and chances in the final minutes, so an extra five minutes of play was needed to decide the outcome. 

Each team recorded three shots on goal in the period, but each shot was parried away from danger. The Wolverines have an extended break before taking on Aquinas in a home-and-home series starting December 1st.
