Wolverines Net Eight Goals in Victory Over Davenport

DEARBORN, Mich. -- In a game that saw 13 goals between the two sides. The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's ice hockey (15-5) came out victorious over the Davenport Panthers after tallying eight goals in a back-and-forth at the UM-Dearborn Ice Arena on Thursday (Jan. 11). 

The first period saw four goals, with UM-Dearborn leading 3-1. Quest Bigelow opened the scoring for UM-Dearborn, followed by Joey Cullinan's goal to make it 2-1. Trent Benedict then scored for Davenport, but Josh Weber's goal gave the Wolverines needed insurance. Weber scored his second goal in the period with just over a minute left.


In the second period, Bailey Byrd's goal gave UM-Dearborn the 4-1 lead. However, Justin Turner scored for Davenport, bringing the score to 4-2. In the third period, Davenport scored three goals, with Austin Melone, Robert McLaughlin, and Ryder McMillen finding the back of the net. UM-Dearborn responded with goals from Craig McKague, Joey Cullinan, and Jake Emery to weather the storm and give the Wolverines a needed victory. 

The game featured some standout performances, with Josh Weber and Chance Mathews of UM-Dearborn tallying three points each.
