FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich.— The University of Michigan-Dearborn softball team returned to action with a makeup double-header (from 4/1) against the Indiana Tech Warriors on Thursday afternoon.

Prior to resuming game one, the UM-Dearborn Athletic Department held a ceremony honoring the hard work and dedication of Seniors Gabby Rolak and Marisa Vermiglio.

Game one picked up in the top of the seventh inning with Indiana Tech in front 6-2. The Warriors would push their lead to seven, closing out the game for a 9-2 win.

Shae Scott led the way for Wolverines going 1 for 3, while driving in two runs. Aspen Starr and Payton Ellinger would both add a hit of their own, while also scoring a run.

Lanie Ellinger would take the loss for the Wolverines, dropping her to 10-6 on the season.

Game two saw the Warriors jump out to an early 3-0 lead after two innings. The Wolverines would respond as the two Seniors connected when Vermiglio singled to right center, driving in Rolak. However, Indiana Tech would slowly pad its lead, beginning with a third-inning home run. UM-Dearborn would add a run in the fifth as Emily McCalla singled to right field, scoring Claire Muehlbrandt, but the Warrior lead was too much overcome as the Wolverines would fall 9-2.

Paige Maltby (3.0 IP, 6 H, 5 ER, 3 K) started the game for the Wolverines, while Sydni Uhlenberg (4.0 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 3 K) would come in for relief work.

UM-Dearborn finished the 2023 regular season with an overall record of 23-16 overall and 13-9 in the WHAC. The Wolverines currently sit sixth in the conference standings and await to find out their next opponent in the WHAC playoff taking place May 3rd-5th in Sylvania, Ohio.
