DEARBORN, Mich. – Losers of their last four games, the University of Michigan-Dearborn (11-15, 7-10) ended a pair of streaks on Wednesday (Oct. 25). The Wolverines vanquished a losing streak of 27 games at the hands of the Aquinas College Saints (26-6, 13-3), a streak that dated back to October 18th, 2007. The Wolverines also clinched a spot in the WHAC Tournament, beating the Saints 3-1.

The opening set saw the two teams exchange leads a handful of times, each holding a lead of at least three points. After trailing 16-12 in the middle of the set, the Wolverines were able to tie the first set at 18. After a pair of points from Brooke Wetherill, the Wolverines took complete control and ended up taking an exciting opening set 25-22.

Riding the highs of the first set, the Wolverines were caught sleepwalking in the second set, recording their lowest total kills and kill percentage. The Saints did what good teams do and took a commanding 25-14 victory to tie the match at 1-1.

Head Coach Eric Stark knew he must close out the strong Saints side. He called on his big hitters to do just that in the final two sets. The Wolverines leaned on Sydney Eggleton, Kielee Tondryk, and Brooke Wetherill to close out the Saints. The Wolverines hit .278 and .438 as a team in the final two sets. Their best on the day. Eggleton led the Wolverines with 15 kills, while Wetherill and Tondryk had 13 and 11, respectively. The Wolverines would win those sets 25-22 and 25-23 to finally take down the Saints.
