Second-Half Rally Trips up Wolverines Against Calumet

Second-Half Rally Trips up Wolverines Against Calumet

ROCHESTER, Mich. – Despite making 10 three-pointers on Friday (Nov. 10), foul trouble plagued the University of Michigan-Dearborn men's basketball team (1-2) as the Calumet Crimson Wave tallied 26 more free throw attempts in a 91-75 loss at the Tim Horton's Classic hosted by Rochester University.

The Wolverines' third non-conference matchup of the young season was the tale of two halves. UM-Dearborn carried a 10-point lead late in the first half after shooting 46% from three in the opening 20 minutes. The Wolverines made seven three-pointers, including four from the fingertips of Jackson Reynolds, who had 16 first-half points. Four of the five Wolverines starters tallied two or more assists in the first half as the Wolverine offense was clicking on all cylinders.

UM-Dearborn held the Crimson Wave to a measly 33.3% from the field and just 9% from behind the arc. However, the Crimson Wave kept it close thanks to 12 made free throws.

Things began to slip away from the Wolverines in the final 20 minutes as the Crimson Wave's offense woke up and shot the ball at a 51% clip. The Wolverines tried to slow down the Crimson Wave run, but it was too late as Calumet outscored the Wolverines 58-34 in the second half.

UM-Dearborn will be back in action on Saturday (Nov. 11) as they Take on Indiana Northwest in the conclusion of the Tim Horton's Classic.
