DeVita Rolls a Perfect Game at WHAC I Jamboree

COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. -- The University of Michigan-Dearborn bowling team traveled west for the team's first WHAC Jamboree at Westgate Bowl. Joseph DeVita stole the show for the Wolverines as he rolled the first perfect game in program history and took home first place after rolling a stellar 1010 in four games. The men's team took home fifth, while the women's took 14th on Friday (Nov. 3).

DeVita's day will go down as one of the best in program history as his four-game average of 252.5 beat the next closest competitor by 18 pins. DeVita started strong, rolling a 257 in his first game, and followed that up with a disappointing 177. However, DeVita's third game will be talked about in UM-Dearborn bowling history. DeVita was shattered with cheers as the final pins fell, completing the ever-elusive perfect game. In his fourth and final game, DeVita continued his hot streak as he rolled a 276, a mark that would've finished as the highest of any competitor on the day.

DeVita's success was joined by fellow teammate Nathan Roberts, who finished in seventh on the day with a total of 903. Roberts rolled a 269 in his opening game, which gave UM-Dearborn the three-highest games of all competitors. Stephen Strzalkowski took home 17th with a total of 852. Jaylen Watson rounded out the Wolverine competitors with a three-game total of 688 after rolling a 242 and 254 in his second and third games.

In the women's events, Elizabeth Breitzman rolled a 717 in four games, with a high of 189 in her second game. Jessica Ludwick rolled a 196 and a 200 in her second and fourth game to give her a 689 total, while Jasmine Carroll rounded out the Wolverine competitors with a 689 in four games.
