UTICA, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn (3-23, 3-12) baseball team traveled to crosstown rival Lawrence Tech (15-18, 8-7) on Tuesday (Apr. 11) for a Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference Doubleheader at Jimmy Johns Field. Unfortunately, the Wolverines were swept by the Blue Devils thanks to a walk-off win in game one.

UM-Dearborn tallied 12 runs on 11 hits, but the Blue Devil offense was just as potent, scratching across 13 runs on 11 hits. Max McLennan and Nathaniel Wandrie each had three RBI games for the Wolverines and recorded multi-hit games. In addition, Matthew Balash had a pair of RBIs to go with his 2-4 day at the plate.

Nathan Mack started the scoring early as he scorched a double to right center in the first inning, bringing McLennan around to score. Wandrie would later deliver a deep fly ball to right field to score Matthew Williams on a SAC fly.

LTU scored three runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning to regain a 3-2 lead. UM-Dearborn would score three unanswered runs over the next two innings to re-take a 5-3 lead after the top of the third. The Blue Devils tallied three runs in the bottom of the third, but McLennan sent a two-run blast over the right field fence to again give the Wolverines a 7-6 lead.

LTU responded with a solo home run in the fourth before McLennan again gave the Wolverines a lead after an infield single to second base, scoring Drake Schultz

A game with numerous lead changes would showcase three more in the final 1.5 innings, with the Blue Devils taking the 12-11 victory after a walk-off single to left center.

Game two was all Blue Devils as they took the contest 16-2 after the mercy rule was brought into effect in the seventh inning. McLennan and Evan Morin each had RBIs in the contest.
