Wolverines Drop Tight Contest Against Saint Francis (Ind.)

DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn (1-2-1) men's soccer team welcomed the Saint Francis (Ind.) Cougars (6-1-0) at Star International Academy on Wednesday (Sept. 13). The Cougars took the contest 1-0 despite a strong showing from the Maize & Blue.

The Wolverines faced an early deficit after conceding a penalty in the first seven minutes of the contest. The Cougars converted from the spot and took an early 1-0 lead. The Wolverines looked to equalize as they applied pressure to the Cougars for the remainder of the half. Despite the pressure, UM-Dearborn could not muster a goal in the first half.

Both teams traded chances in the second half, with the Wolverines getting their best chance of the contest. After an Andrew Schwartz cross was swung into the box, the ball bounced around and fell to the foot of a Wolverine in the middle of the box. The two-touch blast was sent barely above the crossbar, leaving the Cougars unscathed. Neither team would find the back of the net in the final 45, leading to the 1-0 defeat.
