ROYAL OAK, Mich. – Tyler Troyer tossed a complete game in game two of the University of Michigan-Dearborn (1-12, 1-1) baseball teams doubleheader against Rochester University (3-14, 1-3) on Monday (Mar. 20). The victory helped propel the Wolverines to their first victory on the season. Troyer scattered two unearned runs on five hits in his best outing of the season.

Game One

The Wolverine table setters helped get the scoring started early as Max Tomaszewski singled home Evan Morin to give UM-Dearborn the early lead. The 1-4 hitters in the Wolverine lineup combined for six of the Wolverines' nine hits in game one, Matthew Williams and Tomaszewski having two apiece. The Warriors would answer with three unanswered runs in the second and third inning to make it 3-1. Tomaszewski would deliver again in the bottom of the third. The senior catcher drilled a two-out double to right field to score Morin on the play.

UM-Dearborn would tie up the contest in the fifth when Williams hit a sharp grounder with runners on the corners to score Mark Schaaf and tie the game up at three.

Rochester would score six runs in the next half-inning to take a 9-3 lead. The Wolverines clawed back and scored three runs but ultimately came up short, losing game one 9-6.

Jack Cronyn got the start tossing five innings for the Wolverines. Cronyn was credited with the loss in game one. Josh DeChane tossed a scoreless inning of relief for the Wolverines.

Game Two

The action was limited in game two as only one run was scored in the first five innings. UM-Dearborn was the recipient of that run as Schaaf hit a SAC fly to center field to score Nathaniel Mack on the play.

Troyer held the Warrior offense in check until the sixth when they tied the game up after a single to right center. The Wolverines would turn a triple play with the bases loaded but Rochester was able to advance the runner from third before the final out was recorded. Down 2-1 in the eighth, the Wolverines would respond with a five run inning to take a commanding lead.

Troyer came out for the ninth and shut down the Warriors one last time to finish off the complete game. The right-hander scattered five hits and struck out five while not surrendering a single walk.
