Pioneers Unseat Wolverines in Home Opener

DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn (0-2-0) women's soccer team welcomed the Point Park Pioneers (1-0-0) to Star International Academy for the Wolverines home opener on Wednesday (Aug. 23). The Pioneers delivered the only blows of the game taking down the Wolverines 2-0.
Trailing 1-0 in the second half, the Wolverines generated their best scoring chance as the Maize & Blue pushed into the attacking third. The Wolverines laced one into the back of the net but had their celebrations cut short as the Assistant Referee went up with the offsides flag.
Emmi Pinkowski would pace the Wolverine attack with two shots on goal but could not place any chances past the Pioneer keeper.
UM-Dearborn takes on Eureka College at Defiance College on Saturday (Sept. 2) at 3 p.m.
