DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn (4-5-1, 0-3-1) women's soccer team started slowly on Wednesday (Oct. 4) against the Cornerstone Golden Eagles (5-2-2, 1-1-2). Despite the slow start, the Wolverines kept the contest within reach and evened the scoreline late in the game, helping the Wolverines steal a point in a 1-1 draw.

The Golden Eagles scored right from the opening kick-off as they pinned the Wolverines in deep and fired a shot on frame in the fourth minute. The ball was fumbled around and tumbled into the back of the net to give the Golden Eagles the lead. CU outshot the Wolverines 8-4 in the first half, with the Wolverines registering just one shot on goal.

UM-Dearborn came out clicking in the second 45 as they turned the tides on the Golden Eagles with better build-up play and sharper passing. The Wolverines recorded five corner kicks in the second half compared to just two from the Golden Eagles. In the 69th minute, the Wolverines sent a pass inside the penalty area to the boot of Juju Kleit. Kleit was taken down inside the box, and the Wolverines were awarded a penalty. The Wolverine's leading scorer, Emmi Pinkowski, calmly stepped up to the penalty spot and beat the goalkeeper to the top right corner for the late equalizer. The goal was Pinkowski's seventh of the year.

In the 89th minute, the Golden Eagles sent a dangerous diagnol cross into the box and to the boot of one of their attackers. However, Amelia Strochine (1-3-1) denied the attempted shot on goal and parried away the attempt to preserve the tie and give the Wolverines a much-needed point.
