Breaux Breaks Out Against Saints

DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn (2-12, 0-8) men's basketball team played in a back-and-forth affair on Saturday (Jan. 6). In a game between the Aquinas College Saints (8-6, 5-3) both teams went on numerous runs keeping the game tight throughout. Despite only having two lead changes throughout the contest, the Wolverines largely kept it close, thanks to their bench. Jimmy Breaux was a sparkplug off the bench, scoring 21 points in 26 minutes of work. 

For Aquinas, DeAndre Francis was the standout player, scoring 19 points and grabbing 14 rebounds. Devon Boyd also performed well, scoring 16 points and making one 3-pointer. Donovan Brown-Boyd contributed 17 points and six rebounds. 

Jimmy Breaux and Troy Campbell were the top performers on UM-Dearborn's side. Breaux scored an impressive 21 points and grabbed eight rebounds, while Campbell scored 18 points and made two 3-pointers.

Despite UM-Dearborn's valiant effort, Aquinas emerged as the victors with a score of 89-79. The Saints edged out the Wolverines at the free-throw line, making 24-of-29 attempts compared to 17-of-24 for the Wolverines. 

The Wolverines look to snap their losing skid on the road on Wednesday (Jan. 10) against Siena Heights.
