The University of Michigan-Dearborn Player of the Week is men’s basketball guard Elwood Tomlinson, it was announced Wednesday.
The Wolverines came away with two crucial WHAC victories this past week to keep pace in the conference standings, as they cruised against Concordia University, 89-64 and took down the University of Northwestern Ohio, 96-87. The Wolverines are currently sitting in the sixth seed with two regular-season games remaining.
Elwood Tomlinson’s outside shooting was key as he drove the UM-Dearborn offense in the two wins. Against Concordia, Tomlinson led the Wolverines with a career-high 35 points, going 13-of-21 from the field, hitting seven 3-pointers, while adding seven rebounds. He followed up that performance with 22 points against Northwestern Ohio, as he shot 53 percent from the field.
The Kissimmee, Fla., native has provided a spark for UM-Dearborn over the last month with his strong play. Tomlinson has hit double digits in points in four straight games while shooting over 40 percent from behind the arc.
The honor is the second for Tomlinson and the fifth for men’s basketball this season.
The Wolverines return to action against (RV) Indiana Tech on Senior Night at 7:30 pm Wednesday, at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.
