The University of Michigan-Dearborn Player of the Week is men’s basketball guard Elwood Tomlinson, it was announced Wednesday.
The Wolverines traveled out to Mol Arena in Grand Rapids, Mich., this past Saturday to take on No. 14 Cornerstone University and came away with a big Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference road victory by a score of 69-67 improving UM-Dearborn’s record to 10-3 overall and 4-1 in the WHAC, keeping the Wolverines tied at the top of the conference standings.
Tomlinson provided a spark off the bench against the Golden Eagles by scoring 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting in just 24 minutes of action. He came through in the clutch with a 3-pointer in the closing seconds of the game to help secure the victory for UM-Dearborn.
The Kissimmee, Fla., native has provided the Wolverines reliable depth off the bench in his first year with the program averaging 5.9 points per game.
The honor is the first for Tomlinson and the third for the men’s basketball team this season.
The Wolverines return to action against Lawrence Tech at 3 pm Saturday in Southfield, Mich.
