The University of Michigan-Dearborn Player of the Week is women’s basketball guard Mariah Taylor, it was announced Wednesday.
UM-Dearborn came away with two crucial WHAC road victories this past week to keep pace in the conference standings, as they took down Lourdes University, 62-53, and upset No. 14 Siena Heights University, 75-70, in overtime. The Wolverines are currently sitting in the sixth seed with four regular-season games remaining.
Mariah Taylor played a big role in both wins, providing UM-Dearborn with scoring off the bench. Against Lourdes, Taylor led the Wolverines with 14 points, adding four rebounds and four steals. Taylor followed up that performance by scoring 20 points against Siena Heights.
The Bloomfield Hills, Mich., native has found success from deep in the two victories, shooting 8-of-16 combined, one of which gave UM-Dearborn the lead in overtime against Siena Heights.
The honor is the first for Taylor and the second for women’s basketball this season.
The Wolverines return to action against Concordia University at 5:30 pm Wednesday, at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.
