The University of Michigan-Dearborn Player of the Week is volleyball freshman middle blocker Regan Sliwinski, it was announced Wednesday.

Sliwinski led the Wolverines to their first win of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference season last week, as UM-Dearborn swept Siena Heights University on the road. The Wolverines dropped a pair of matches over the weekend but gave WHAC frontrunner Madonna University all it could handle in a thrilling four-set match at home on Saturday.

Sliwinski is the first volleyball student-athlete to earn the honor this season.

The Grosse Pointe, Mich., native was a force at the net on defense in all three matches last week with 13 total blocks in 10 sets, including five at Lourdes University on Friday. She added a team-high 15 kills in the win at SHU and 10 more against Madonna.

Sliwinski is currently tied for second on the team with 86 kills this season and has a team-best 37 total blocks in 13 matches.

The Wolverines continue WHAC play at Cornerstone University at 7 pm Wednesday in Grand Rapids, Mich.
