The University of Michigan-Dearborn Player of the Week is men’s soccer midfielder Obaidah Shaherli, it was announced Wednesday.
Shaherli led the Wolverines to their first win of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference season last week, as UM-Dearborn topped Lourdes University on the road. Shaherli powered the Wolverines offense by recording a goal and an assist in the victory over the Gray Wolves.
The honor is the first for Shaherli in his career and the second for men's soccer this season.
The Dearborn, Mich., native has been a key piece for the Wolverine offense in his first season. His goal against Lourdes was his second game-winner of the season, both coming with less than 25 minutes left in the game.
The Wolverines continue WHAC play against Lawrence Tech at 7 pm Wednesday in Southfield, Mich.
