Davis hat trick leads Wolverines on Senior Night

DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's ice hockey team completed a series and season sweep of Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference foe Lawrence Tech on Senior Night Saturday at the UM-Dearborn Ice Arena.

The No. 6 Wolverines scored five in the second period and held off a late LTU rally for a 7-4 win to move to 21-6-2 overall and 15-3-0 in the WHAC. UM-Dearborn is two points up on No. 8 Indiana Tech with two games to play in the WHAC regular season.

The Wolverines honored Justin Dunn, Nic LaBurn, Thomas Proudlock and Kyle Schnettler in a Senior Day ceremony during the second intermission.

Anthony Davis scored the lone goal of the first period to put UM-Dearborn up 1-0. After goals from LaBurn and Brendan West in the second, Davis scored two more to complete the hat trick. LaBurn added a second of the game with 19 seconds left in the middle frame.

Dunn scored early in the third to put UM-Dearborn up by six before LTU scored three unanswered down the stretch to cut into the Wolverine advantage.

LaBurn finished with two goals and two assists, while West added a goal and three assists. Billy Brock recorded a team-high five assists and Thomas Proudlock made 21 saves in the win.

The Wolverines step out of league play to host Cleary University for two games starting at 7 pm Friday at the UM-Dearborn Ice Arena.
