West named WHAC Player of the Week

DEARBORN, Mich. – The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference men's ice hockey Offensive Player of the Week is University of Michigan-Dearborn freshman forward Brendan West, it was announced Monday.

West led the Wolverines to a sweep of Rochester University over the weekend, helping secure the team's second straight WHAC Regular Season title. The award is the first for West in his career.

The Plymouth, Mich., native scored three goals and added two assists in the opener at home while adding an assist in a road win on Saturday in the regular-season finale. Since joining the Wolverines midway through the season, West has established himself as one of the top-scoring threats on the team. He has 14 goals and 25 assists in 16 games.

The Wolverines enter the WHAC Postseason Tournament as the No. 1 seed and will play the winner of No. 4 Lawrence Tech and No. 5 Rochester in the semifinals at 5:30 pm Saturday at the Farmington Ice Arena in Farmington Hills, Mich.
