Dunn scores four, UM-Dearborn wins 9-6

DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's ice hockey team returned home after six straight on the road to host Rochester University in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference matchup Friday at the UM-Dearborn Ice Arena.

Led by four goals from Justin Dunn, the No. 4 Wolverines took the opener of the home-and-home weekend series in a wide-open game by a score of 9-6. The win is the ninth straight for UM-Dearborn, which improves to 12-1-1 overall and 7-1-0 in the WHAC.

Dawson Richard opened the scoring for the Wolverines netting his eighth goal of the season with assists from Mathieu LaForest and Silas Johnson at the 6:37 mark of the first period. Justin Dunn extended the UM-Dearborn lead on the power play two minutes later from Nic LaBurn and Kyle Schnettler.

LaBurn pushed the Wolverine lead to 3-0 midway through the second period with his 14th of the season, with assists to Dunn and Jared Lee. Rochester responded with three unanswered goals to tie the score. Silas Johnson put UM-Dearborn back on top, while Dunn added another power-play goal four minutes later to give the Wolverines a 5-3 late in the second.

The scoring kept up in the third as Adam Groat netted a goal for the Wolverines followed by two more from Dunn, who added two assists on the night to finish with six points. 

The Wolverines outshot the Warriors 52-27 as Thomas Proudlock made 21 saves in goal for UM-Dearborn. Trevor Pode scored three goals and added two assists for Rochester.

The Wolverines return to action against Rochester at 12:45 pm Saturday at Fraser Hockeyland in Fraser, Mich.
