FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's ice hockey team fell in regulation for the first time this season, dropping the finale of a weekend Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference series at Indiana Tech Saturday in Fort Wayne, Ind.
The No. 4 Wolverines rallied from down 2-0 with a pair goals in a 31-second span in the third period, but the No. 18 Warriors found the game-winner with 32 seconds left on the clock to secure the win.
The loss drops UM-Dearborn to 4-1-1 overall and 3-1-0 in the WHAC.
After Indiana Tech scored twice in the second, UM-Dearborn got on the board with a goal from Michael Hodgson just over four minutes into the third on assists from Dawson Richard and Kyle Schnettler. The Wolverines tied the game on a goal from Adam Groat 31 seconds later with assists to Nic LaBurn and Billy Brock.
Alex Potter got the game-winner for the Warriors in the closing seconds to earn the split.
Thomas Proudlock made 29 saves for the Wolverines in the loss as UM-Dearborn was outshot 32-18.
The Wolverines continue WHAC play with a home-and-home series against Aquinas College starting at 7 pm Friday at the UM-Dearborn Ice Arena.
