Madonna stuns No. 21 UM-Dearborn in OT

DEARBORN, Mich. – The Madonna University men's basketball team completed a furious comeback in the second half and topped the University of Michigan-Dearborn in overtime in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest Wednesday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.

The No. 21 Wolverines led by 23 points at the half after stifling the Crusader offense in the opening 20 minutes, holding Madonna to just 20 percent shooting from the field. The Crusaders turned it around in a big way in the second half, hitting 74 percent from the field to take control.

Down three late, Cody Kegley tied the game for the Wolverines with eight seconds remaining in regulation to tie the score at 79-79 to force overtime. Zach Lattimer hit a triple with three minutes left in the extra frame to put give UM-Dearborn a two-point lead, but Madonna closed the game on a 12-3 run to escape with a 94-87 win.

The loss drops UM-Dearborn to 13-5 overall and 6-2 in the WHAC.

Jason Gigliotti led the Wolverines with 22 points and 14 rebounds for a double-double, while Elwood Tomlinson added 18 points, including four 3-pointers off the bench. Lattimer finished with 17 points and five 3-pointers, while Kegley added 13 points, six rebounds, and six assists.

The Wolverines shot 31-of-74 from the field, 15-of-33 from deep and 10-of-14 at the line.

Dwight Burton scored 30 of his 42 points in the second half and overtime to lead the Crusader comeback.

UM-Dearborn returns to action against the University of Northwestern Ohio at 3 pm Saturday in Lima, Ohio.
