Gigliotti earns first career WHAC honor

DEARBORN, Mich. – For the first time in his career, University of Michigan-Dearborn men's basketball junior Jason Gigliotti was named the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Player of the Week, it was announced Monday.

Gigliotti is the first Wolverine this season to receive the weekly honor and first since Jason Penn claimed the award in the final week of the 2017-18 season.

The Hartland, Mich., native led UM-Dearborn to a victory over defending NAIA DII National Champion and 15th-ranked Spring Arbor University on the road Saturday to close the 2019 calendar year. Gigliotti scored a game-high 32 points on 13-of-17 shooting, was a perfect 6-of-6 from the line and added 10 rebounds for a double-double.

Gigliotti is averaging career highs with 13.9 points and 8.5 rebounds per game through 16 starts this season. He has also collected six double-doubles.

The Wolverines return to conference play against Siena Heights University at 3 pm Saturday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.
