Wolverines earn WHAC win over Racers 96-87

DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's basketball team kept pace in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Postseason Tournament race as the Wolverines look to position themselves for the best seed possible, with a win over the University of Northwestern Ohio Saturday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.

The Wolverines shot 54 percent from the field and pulled away late for a 96-87 win over the Racers to move to 17-11 overall and 10-8 in the WHAC with two games left in the regular season.

Following play on Saturday, UM-Dearborn is in sixth place, a half game back of Cornerstone University, as the Wolverines prepare to take on two of the WHAC's top teams in the regular season's final week.

Jason Gigliotti led the Wolverines in the win over the Racers, finishing with a double-double. He recorded 28 points and 10 rebounds. Elwood Tomlinson continued his strong play of late with 22 points and three 3-pointers, while Cody Kegley added 10 points and five rebounds. Jalen Paul finished with nine points and a team-high seven assists.

UM-Dearborn shot 32-of-59 from the field, 9-of-29 from deep and 23-of-28 from the line, while outrebounding UNOH 35-23.

The Racers were led by 34 points from Nathan Lessing.

UM-Dearborn will honor three Wolverines on Senior Night against Indiana Tech (RV) at 7:30 pm Wednesday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.
