UM-Dearborn men fall short at No. 19 Madonna

LIVONIA, Mich. – The 2019-20 regular season came to a close for the University of Michigan-Dearborn men's basketball team with a loss in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest at No 19 Madonna University Saturday in Livonia, Mich.

The Wolverines held close to the Crusaders for the majority of the contest, but Madonna was able to establish control late to earn an 84-73 win, sweeping the regular season series. The loss ends the UM-Dearborn regular season with a record of 17-13 overall and 10-10 in the WHAC.

The Wolverines, the No. 6 seed, will play the first round of the WHAC Postseason Tournament at No. 6 seed Rochester University Wednesday in Rochester Hills, Mich.

UM-Dearborn was led by 20 points and five 3-pointers from Elwood Tomlinson, while Jason Gigliotti added 13 points and nine rebounds. Cody Kegley closed his final regular-season game with 12 points and five rebounds.

The Wolverines shot 24-of-61 from the field, 9-of-21 from deep and 16-of-26 from the line.

Dwight Burton and Joshua Reynolds led the Crusaders with 23 points each.
