Gigliotti's 32 leads Wolverines past No. 15 Cougars

SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's basketball team took a big road win over the defending NAIA DII National Champions, Spring Arbor University Saturday in Spring Arbor, Mich.

The No. 21 Wolverines outscored the No. 15 Cougars by 16 in the second half to overcome a nine-point deficit at the half, earning an 81-74 victory. The win moves UM-Dearborn 12-4 overall as the team prepares to return to Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play in the New Year.

UM-Dearborn used a 14-4 run early in the second half to pull within one point and took the lead with 3:11 remaining on a basket from Jason Gigliotti. Senior Cody Kegley hit a 3-pointer with under two minutes play to put the Wolverines up for good.

Gigliotti was a force for the Wolverines all game, scoring a career-high 32 points on 13-of-17 shooting, adding 10 rebounds for a double-double. Kegley finished with 14 points and five rebounds, while Spencer Robinson and Elwood Tomlinson each added eight points.

The Wolverines shot 31-of-58 from the field, 8-of-17 from deep and 11-of-13 from the line.

Paul Marandet led the Cougars with 28 points and eight assists.

The Wolverines return to WHAC play against Siena Heights University at 3 pm on Saturday, Jan. 4 at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.
