Wolverines top Grace 69-58 in Bevo Opener

RIO GRANDE, Ohio – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's basketball team continued its impressive start to the 2019-20 season with a win over Grace College in the opener of the Bevo Francis Invitational Friday in Rio Grande, Ohio.

The Wolverines led by seven points at the break and held on in the second half led by junior forward Jason Gigliotti, who finished with a double-double in the 69-58 win. The victory pushes UM-Dearborn to a perfect 5-0 record.

Gigliotti finished with a game-high 19 points on 8-of-16 shooting while adding 12 rebounds, including five on the offensive side.

Zach Lattimer led the Wolverine offense in the first half, scoring all 11 of his points before the break, including three 3-pointers. Cody Kegley scored his 11 points in the second half to keep UM-Dearborn in front. Damian Forrest and Reid Sellers each added six points off the bench for the Wolverines.

UM-Dearborn shot 25-of-61 from the field, 5-of-16 from deep and 14-of-17 at the line, while outrebounding Grace 48-34.

The Lancers were led by Haden Deaton with 13 points and seven rebounds.

UM-Dearborn concludes play at the event against the host school Rio Grande University at 5 pm Saturday.
