Wolverines edge Saints (RV) 71-68

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's basketball team earned a second straight victory to start the 2019-20 season, defeating Holy Cross College (RV) on the road Tuesday in Notre Dame, Ind.

The Wolverines pulled away late in the first half to take an 11-point lead into the locker room, but the Saints rallied after the break to earn a 56-54 lead with 5:34 remaining. Senior Cody Kegley scored all 15 of his points in the second half, making several key baskets down the stretch and two free throws in the closing seconds to secure a 71-68 win.

UM-Dearborn is 2-0 to start the season, as the team prepares for an international trip later this week.

Jason Gigliotti led the Wolverines with 18 points on 8-of-13 shooting and added 12 rebounds for a double-double. Kegley was 4-of-9 from the field and 7-of-10 from the line for his 15 points.

Mathew Mignault provided a spark off the bench for the Wolverines, hitting three 3-pointers and finishing with 11 points. UM-Dearborn shot 26-of-61 from the field, 3-of-10 from deep and 16-of-28 from the line.

The Saints were led by Robby Jimenez with 17 points, while Jordan Gaines added 16 points.
