Second-half surge leads UM-Dearborn to 89-58 win

RIO GRANDE, Ohio – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's basketball team had a schedule change on day two of the Bevo Francis Invitational Saturday in Rio Grande, Ohio.

Originally slated to play the host team Rio Grande University, the game was moved to earlier in the day and was played against Wright State University-Lake Campus. The opponent did not matter, as the Wolverines rolled to an 89-58 victory to remain perfect at 6-0 on the season.

Up three points at the half, UM-Dearborn controlled the final 20 minutes, outscoring the Lakers 50-22. Jason Gigliotti picked up his second double-double of the weekend, finishing with 18 points and 13 rebounds for the Wolverines.

Cody Kegley added 17 points, including four 3-pointers, while Donovan Farrell finished with 12 points and eight rebounds. Mathew Mignault chipped in with 12 points and six rebounds, while Damian Forrest came off the bench to add eight points and nine rebounds.

Elwood Tomlinson scored nine points and grabbed seven boards, as Jalen Paul recorded a team-high nine assists.

The Wolverines shot 37-of-79 from the field, 7-of-26 from deep and 8-of-16 from the line, while dominating the rebound battle 62-29.

The Lakers were led by Reggie Priah with 14 points.

UM-Dearborn will get its toughest test of the young season against No. 24 University of St. Francis (IN) at 7:30 pm Tuesday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.
