DEARBORN, Mich. – University of Michigan-Dearborn men's basketball senior Cody Kegley reached a career milestone as the Wolverines returned home to take on the No. 24 University of Saint Francis (IN) Tuesday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.
Kegley sparked a UM-Dearborn run in the second half with an acrobatic layup, earning the and-one trip to the line midway through the second half. Making the free-throw put the Yale, Mich., native at 1,000-career points. Kegley is the 12th member of the UM-Dearborn men's basketball 1,000-point club and first since 2017-18 when Xavier Crofford reached the mark.
Down 53-44, UM-Dearborn went on an 11-2 run to tie the game with 7:25 to play, but the Cougars established control, holding on for a 78-70 win. The loss is the first of the season for the Wolverines who drop to 6-1 overall.
Kegley led all scorers with 20 points on 7-of-17 shooting, hitting four 3-pointers. He added six rebounds and four assists. Jason Gigliotti finished with 13 points and eight rebounds, while Zach Lattimer added 12 points in limited action due to foul trouble.
The Wolverines shot 29-of-63 from the field, 7-of-21 from deep and 5-of-10 at the line, getting outrebounded 34-28.
The Cougars had five scorers in double figures led by Lance Dollison with 14 points and eight rebounds.
UM-Dearborn returns to action against NCAA Division I Eastern Michigan University in an exhibition game at 7 pm Thursday at the EMU Convocation Center in Ypsilanti, Mich.
