Ames earns first WHAC Player of the Week Award

DEARBORN, Mich. – The No. 2 University of Michigan-Dearborn men's hockey team extended its winning streak to nine games after sweeping Concordia University last weekend.

The Wolverines filled the scoresheet on Friday, defeating the Cardinals 14-1 at home, before defeating Concordia 4-1 on the road the following night.

Defenseman John Ames was named the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the week for his effort on the blue line in the two-game sweep. The honor for the first for Ames.

A native Woodhaven, Mich., Ames recorded one assist and a +7 rating in the win on Friday. Ames has played in 23 games, recording two goals and 13 assists for 15 points for the Wolverines.

Ames and the Wolverines will continue its journey to the ACHA National Tournament in a crucial battle against No. 3 Adrian College at 7 pm on Thursday in Adrian, Mich.
