Proudlock named WHAC Defensive Player of the Week

DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's ice hockey team has won eight straight games and the Wolverines are sitting at No. 2 in the ACHA Division I Top-25 heading into a critical showdown with No. 3 Adrian College, the defending national champions, at 7 pm Tuesday in Adrian, Mich.

The Wolverines went on the road last weekend and swept a two-game series against No. 15 Stony Brook University, topping the Seawolves 4-1 on Saturday and 4-2 on Sunday. The wins pushed UM-Dearborn to 9-1-0 heading into Tuesday's contest with the Bulldogs.

Junior goaltender Thomas Proudlock has been a cornerstone of the Wolverine success so far in 2018-19, picking up two more wins in net over the weekend. He made 22 saves on Saturday, allowing just one goal.

In the finale victory, Proudlock saw a barrage of shots in the second period, as SBU attempted to take advantage of eight Wolverine penalties in the frame. The Southgate, Mich., native made 33 total saves as the Wolverines rallied for the win.

For his efforts, Proudlock was named the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career, it was announced by the conference on Tuesday. The award is the third for the Wolverines this season, as Billy Brock has won the offensive honor twice.

Proudlock enters tonight's game with a 7-1-0 record in net with a 1.89 goals against average and a .930 save percentage.
