Wolverines sweep Knights to push win streak to seven

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's hockey team completed a sweep of Calvin College on Saturday at the Eagles Ice Center in Grand Rapids, Mich.

The No. 2 Wolverines led by one in the final moments and secured the victory with an empty-net goal to defeat the Knights 3-1, improving to 18-2-1 on the season.

After a scoreless first period, the Wolverines scored twice in the second to take a 2-0 lead into the final frame. Kevin Bechard got the scoring started before Sterling Cooper scored his first career goal to give UM-Dearborn a 2-0 lead. Justin Dunn recorded an assist on both goals. Andrew Spiegel added the empty-netter with 13 seconds remaining.

Thomas Proudlock recorded 21 saves, earning his 17th victory of the season.

The Wolverines return to action at 7 pm on Friday against Concordia University in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference matchup at the UM-Dearborn Ice Arena.
