Groat scores 100th, Wolverines fall to DU

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The No. 2 University of Michigan-Dearborn men's hockey team lost its first regulation game since the first week of the season, falling to No. 9 Davenport University Friday at the Patterson Ice Arena in Grand Rapids, Mich.

UM-Dearborn erased two one-goal deficits before being defeated 3-2, bringing its season record to 11-2-1.

The Panthers started the scoring midway through the first period. Two minutes later, the Wolverines tied it at 1-1. Tyler Groat scored his 100th career goal with UM-Dearborn off assists from Justin Dunn and Avery Keith. The senior's 13th of the season was scored on the power play.

In the second period, Davenport took its second lead of the game as Keegan Miller beat Wolverines goaltender Thomas Proudlock to make it 2-1. UM-Dearborn answered back once more as Henry Laukkanen scored to tie it 2-2. The Panthers added the eventual game-winning goal minutes later.

UM-Dearborn was outshot 30-21 as Proudlock made 27 saves for the Wolverines.

The Wolverines return to action against the Panthers at 3:35 pm Saturday at the Patterson Ice Arena.
