No. 2 Wolverines roll to 12-0 win over No. 23 Utes

DEARBORN, Mich. – The No. 2 University of Michigan-Dearborn men's ice hockey team cruised to a dominating victory against No. 23 University of Utah Saturday at the UM-Dearborn Ice Arena.

The Wolverines scored four times in the first and rolled from there on their way to a 12-0 victory. With the win, UM-Dearborn improves to 7-1-0 on the season and has won its last six games dating back to the opening weekend of the season.

Billy Brock got the scoring started just 3:31 into the first period to give the Wolverines a 1-0 lead. Over the next 10 minutes, UM-Dearborn added three more goals as Conor Cunningham, Tyler Groat and a power-play marker from Kevin Bechard gave the Wolverines a 4-0 lead before the first intermission.

After scoring three more in the second, UM-Dearborn kept pressing in the third. Groat scored his second of the game while shorthanded, before Andrew Spiegel and Avery Keith both added tallies in the final minute of play.

The Wolverines chased Utah starting goaltender Patrick Kasper after the sixth goal at the 10-minute mark of the second period.

Brock, the reigning Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Player of the Week, led the Wolverines offensively once again, recording two goals and four assists. Groat scored twice and added three assists. Kevin Bechard scored two for the Wolverines, while John Ames had a career-high three assists.

In goal, Thomas Proudlock made 17 saves for the shutout as UM-Dearborn outshot the Utes 67-17. The junior improved to 6-1-0 on the season.

The No. 2 Wolverines will have a week off before heading on the road for a series against No. 13 Stony Brook University starting at 8:30 pm on Saturday, Nov. 17 at The Rinx in Stony Brook, N.Y.
