Groat named WHAC Player of the Week

DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's ice hockey team earned a series sweep over Western Michigan University last weekend at the UM-Dearborn Ice Arena.

Senior Tyler Groat continued his strong play, scoring four goals, while adding two assists in two games against WMU, highlighted by a hat trick in the opener.

For his efforts, Groat was named the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week, it was announced by the conference on Tuesday.

The award is the second straight for Groat as he received the same honor on Dec. 17.

The native of Wyandotte, Mich., leads the team with 18 goals, including goals in six straight games.

The No. 2 Wolverines (14-2-1) have won three straight games heading into a matchup against Eastern Michigan University at 7 pm Thursday in Ann Arbor, Mich.
